Ever notice when we get one nice day of weather in Toronto we all forget how depressing the winter is and remember the great places we have in this city? Well I do, and I found myself remembering some of the really great places I can go to indulge in tasty treats.

The first one is an amazing local burger place called Craft Burger. There are a few around the city but the one I like to frequent is on King just west of Spadina. Craft Burger was started by a Torontonian and holds some of the freshest and most tasty hand-crafted burgers in the city. My personal favorite is the classic chesses burger with fries. Simple, but oh-so-good.

Another of my favorite places is a great little French bistro called Fare. Located on Queen Street East in Leslieville, this place is a hidden but amazing gem. Pretty much anything on their menu is to die for, but I personally recommend the Steak and Frites. Top it off with a friendly and knowledgeable staff, this restaurant is low key, charming and within a price range that wont break the bank. If you are going in the summer months, be sure to check out their back patio.

Now, after you have filled up on a burger or steak frites, you will need dessert. This brings us to my favorite place in the city to get hot chocolate. Now I know what you’re saying: “summer is on the way. Why would I want hot chocolate when I want to cool down?” But trust me, once you taste Soma chocolate you wont care if you are in the middle of the Sahara desert and are parched for water. Made from scratch, completely in-store, all the chocolate at Soma is rich, sweet and unique. Situated in the Distillery district, Soma can be quite a popular place during the summer time but I assure you it’s quite worth the crowds. With many flavors and types of chocolate items to choose from, you won’t be bored. My top choice here is the Mayan hot chocolate; a rich medium chocolate blend with a little bit of spice added for extra bite.

So the next time you get that Toronto bug, take a moment to think about how truly lucky we are to have such great chow right at our fingertips. How can we not be lucky when we have hand-crafted burgers, the best Steak Frites this side of France, or chocolate with an extra kick? Try it out and let me know.
